How About That Bagel Date?

Last night I dreamed that I was petting a baby whale. It was so cute! I also dreamed that I was putting bagels in a bag. I ALSO dreamed that I was stretching my quads really well.
And who am I to deny my subconscious desires? I woke up, stretched really well, and made a lunch date with G to get bagels. (Maybe I'll pet a baby whale in the next 4 hours?!?) We went to Murray's, one of the better-known bagel places in New York - and that's saying something. We take our bagels very seriously here.
G got an everything bagel with lox and cucumber. To be honest, I used to love bagels with lox. These days my favorite is a pumpernickel with tofu cream cheese and tomato (no onion for my coworkers' sakes). I saved a huge half for later. This is the second half, for dinner, with an added tomato slice, the much desired onion, and some veggies on the side.

The hardest part is getting it into my mouth! I know you're probably all wondering where the green is. (I did eat a salad on the side too.)

How do you usually like your bagels?

  1. OMG!!!! Now that is some x-rated food porn! I like my bagels just like that!

  2. Glad you finally had your bagel date. That bagel looks delicious. It's been a while since I've had one; good bagels don't abound here, but I've always been partial to sesame bagels, toasted with crm cheeze and tomato.

Staying tuned for the baby whale situation...speaking of baby whales, you've reminded me of a good read, (since you asked yesterday): Grayson by Lynne Cox. I enjoyed it anyway...

  3. That bagel looks AMAZING. My fav is also pumpernickel and I like it straight up with tofutti. So good...damn gluten intolerance!

  4. That does look like a good bagel - and to get two servings out of it is genius! I always intend to do that and then don't... I very rarely eat bagels but I like mine everything with cream cheese (usually have to bring them home to get to the tofutti). The onion and tomato sound like great additions, I'll have to toss those in.

How big was the baby whale? I'm going to have to look that one up.

  5. You dream like I do. Be sure to take a picture of the baby whale when you get to pet it. :o)

Your Bagel looks delish. So far my favorite bagel is a whole wheat bagel with almond butter and sliced bananas all warmed up in a panini press....YUM! :o)

  6. I can't remember the last time I ate a bagel. I probably had it with nut butter and berries. I rarely eat them, but I always think I want to eat one when I see them on a television show. People on television shows eats bagels a lot, it seems. They ate them a lot on The O.C.

  7. I eat my bagels in a very similar way, too! I wonder if I can dream that I have a six-pack, and then I'll wake up, and whoa, look at my abs!!!

  8. Shen, go big or go home, no?

Rose, thanks for the book recc - I've seen that one around work and it does look good!

    VAVA, sorry to tease ;)

Jessica, haha, the baby whale was about the size of a big dog in my dream. It was just floating past the window... I did google pictures later and baby belugas are where it's at.

Michelle, I like your bagel topping! More sweet than savory AND toasted!

Jenny, haha I've never seen the OC but I do know they ate doughnuts on Twin Peaks. I'm digging the berry idea.

BM, you're back!! I had a dream last night you'd be back! Well..not really. But all that matters is that you're here!

Leave a message and I'll call you back.
