Vegan MoFo 2014, Day 7: Little Skips

This being the day after way too much day drinking with friends, I only started being able to keep food down around 3 but there was nothing in the house, and the sunlight was too much to go outside. So I ate a couple small things -

This spinach, protein powder, banana, orange, ginger and lemon juice smoothie for instance, and finally met up with Greg later in the day for real food.
We biked to Little Skips in Bushwick.

Greg and I both got the Vegan BLT:

Which was very good. Fair amount of greens, not tasteless tomatoes, good tempeh bacon, and a lime-cilantro aioli, which I would have left off if I'd paid attention, but wasn't too thickly slathered on, so that was ok.
G also got a Mister Sister chocolate chip cookie (purportedly) with 4 chips in it.

He kindly let me have a couple bites. It was ok.
Little Skips: Vegan friendly! Hangover friendly! Food Friend friendly!

  1. Haha hooray for day drinking! I used to enjoy a daytime cocktail every now and then but now I'm too old and I just fall asleep before the sun goes down which is just kind of sad. Anyway, your hangover food looks yummy. The cookie almost looks like a muffin top :) I looked at the menu and the Veggie sandwich looks really good too! It looks very cute too. I'm not in Brooklyn often but whenever I do have a meal there I definitely enjoy it a lot!

    1. I wish I'd fallen asleep instead of kept drinking! The cookie was gluten free as well as vegan, so maybe that's why the texture was like that - Soft and fluffy.
      Come to Brooklyn!!!

  3. why dont you blog about the day drinking? I want to read about that.

was that Tofurky Tempeh Bacon or did the restaurant makes it's own? i agree, Lime doesnt go.

Agree with Sarah: Cookie looks like a Cake.

    1. I did blog about the day drinking! That was the Ethiopian food day. maybe I tried to play it down.
We were wondering the same thing about the tempeh. It tasted and looked like Tofurky brand's but it seems odd that the restaurant wouldn't make their own. I can't picture them buying those expensive packages because they'd go through them so quickly.

  4. Interesting aioli choice on the part of the restaurant, but the rest of the sandwich does look pretty fantastic!! Little Skips looks like a cute place!

    1. It's very cute inside. It was kinda full so I didn't want to take too many photos but there's also local art on one wall. The outside wall has a cool mural too.

    1. I wish I'd gotten better shots, then, but I'm sure I'll be back.

  6. I have found that the best hangover cure is Ginger Kombucha, then an actual hearty real meal. Sorry you were feeling crappy, it's not a fun feeling. :/ But a good reminder for us to do that shiz in moderation!

    1. You know, I actually did eventually get a ginger Kombucha too but could only keep a sip or two down. It usually is a good call, though.
      Yes, moderation is keyyyy here.

  7. Not to hate on anyone or anything, but 4 chocolate chips?! There might be nothing I hate more than recipes for chocolate chip cookies that skimp on the chocolate chips. It's in the name for chrissakes!

    1. Totally agree. It looks like they forgot to add chips and threw them in at the last second. I don't like to hate on small, vegan companies but REALLY.
