Odds & Ends

Here's some food. I guess we can see that tomatoes are getting better as the season nears:

Cooked millet, raw sunflower seeds, red onion, spinach, tomato, roasted beets, hummus dressing

red onion, tomato, chopped fresh dill
+ toasted mini bagel, Tofutti cream cheese, and black pepper =
Cute and delicious. I had two. They really were mini bagels, ya gotta believe me.
Greg kindly brought me a sparkling jasmine tea ginger ale. It was a little too sweet for me, but nicely flavored.
Here's a kale salad:

Raw kale, onion, bell pepper, tomato, avocado, black beans, red pepper flakes.
Here's how I ate the lentil-beet burger:

Bunless, yes, but with ketchup and mustard.

I blame Shen for this addiction, but I can't say I regret it.

                                                    Some things will never change.
Goodnight.

  1. Don't tease me with summer tomatoes! I want the school year to be finished, and I want to lazily wander through produce stands and read books in the grass. *sigh* Bagel sandwiches makes me think of summer, too. *double sigh*

    1. Soon enough, soon enough.
I wanna read books in the grass too, now that you mention it.

  2. The mini bagel looks soooooo good! And that tomato is perfect! I need to find some tasty summer tomatoes, I'm so over these crappy mealy tomatoes. All of your meals are so beautiful and colorful and vibrant. The beet burger is such a pretty color. And chocolate covered cherries are awesome and definitely a worthy candidate for a vice. Can I hire you to be my miso soup chef? And by hire you I mean will you make me miso soup for free? ;)

  3. BAGEL BAGEL BAGEL. (You know I am always going to go for the bagel.) And I need to make up a batch of those beet burgers ASAP.

    1. I would go for the bagel too. To be fair, I really forced you to comment on it, what with the three gratuitous shots.
I still have some beet burgers in the freezer but I'm already planning to make more soon! They're great.

  4. Burger and pickles!! Weirdly enough, that's one form of chocolate I have no interest in. I like my fruit and my chocolate separate.

    1. But fruit and chocolate are best friends!!! How can you separate best friends and soul mates????

    2. Because I'm cold and heartless and also the best friends are chocolate and nuts/peanut butter.

  5. The Tomatoes coming up from Mexico are super red aren't they?

Those look more like midi Bagels rather than mini. Professional looking Bagelwich you made.

Those Chocolate Covered Cherries are very intense. A few go a long way.

A few go a long way for YOU maybe.

  6. Nice-looking food. It's amazing to me that no matter what the season, no matter how red and ripe the tomatoes become, the tomatoes at Veggie Grill remain stiff, lifeless, pale red things. I like Veggie Grill a lot but I usually leave the 'tomatoes' on my plate.

    1. "Red flappy things." Not sure what Veggie Grill is but I am familiar with the sentiment.

  7. That's an addiction I can get behind! That amazing beet burger is also rocking my world. Hail the beet!

    1. All Hail. They're really great. Surprisingly they have fennel seed in them, which adds an additional something.

  8. Are you kidding me with those cherries? I'm not gonna look! Bloggers spread vegan TJ's items like wildfire! PS is it the one chocolate-covered TJ's item that's NOT coated in confectioner's glaze?

    1. Looks like the ingredient list is just: "dark chocolate, cocoa butter , cocoa powder, soy, vanilla extract, dried cherries" (I'm getting that off the internet.) I seem to remember a slightly longer ingredient list but I'm usually pretty aware of confectioner's glaze and I believe Shen is too.
You are in the clear to stuff yr face with candy.
