End of the Week Round-Up (O Pathos)

I accidentally loaded a couple pictures twice and didn't even realize until the last minute: that's how much of a food rut I've been in recently. Don't let yr eyes deceive you, focus on the nuance!

Haha, these are three different lunches (Whole Foods bar). Sometimes kale, sometimes collards. First pic has sweet potato, mushroom and black beans, the second is sweet potato with lentils, the last is butternut squash and chickpea. All doused in Braggs. Except the black beans - I tried coconut aminos with that one but didn't love it.
It's like those pictures in magazines where you have to find the slight differences...
Salads at home haven't been any more inspired. Pretty low on produce.

This is spinach, tomatoes, goji berries and hemp seeds in a miso-tahini dressing. I can't remember how I used to make salads. I don't buy a ton of produce at once anymore because it just goes bad before I can eat it. Sad.

Lots of citrus lately. Lots of coffee lately. Picture this times 3 also.
And apples. Back and forth between Pink Ladies, which I always love, and Jazz apples!

And, a Righeously Raw treat.

I probably won't buy this kind again. It's a little too grainy. But it certainly helps a chocolate craving.
Hopefully I'll post again before another whole week is through, geez. And maybe I will have more variety. Here's hoping.

  1. Talk about healthy choices! It would never cross my mind to pick those things off the WF's Salad Bar. Aren't you tempted at all by the prepared types of Pasta/Bean/Grain/Faux Meat/Tofu things?

Speaking of different WFs having different offerings, I'm pretty sure Liquid Aminos aren't being offered here. Way too advanced.

    1. I really feel like you have more options than we do! I stick mostly to the raw food salad bar; the best we have otherwise is seriously like, vegan dumplings. No faux meat, for sure. Unless it's something at the deli? Because I avoid talking to people, I wouldn't know.

  2. I always go for the sweet potatoes and quinoa at the hot bar. Those are nice looking meals. Very healthy too. I'm with Shen. I get sucked in by the gf/vegan deep fried taquitos they keep on my WF hot bar.

All of my lunches last week were clones because I've started making them all on Sunday night. Assembly line style.

I've been drinking lots of coffee, too. I love it. I won't stop.

    1. Coffee! Coffee!
I love assembly line salads but yes they don't lend well to blogging about. Sad.

  3. I didn't care for that chocolate, either. Like you said, too grainy.

A miso tahini dressing sounds terrific. Do you just mix the two together, or are there other things you add to it?

    1. The dressing is pretty much 2:1 tahini:miso with water. I also added some red pepper flakes, but that's it! So tasty and simple.

  4. All of these meals look delicious! So funny how the photos look so similar, but all look delicious! The salad looks really pretty too and I've been eating lots of citrus too before I have to cut it out ;) Love oranges. Bummer about the chocolate!

    1. I'd be so sad without citrus. It holds a dear place in my heart in the winter.

  5. Ha ha! Apparently you and I are on the same wavelength; we are both attempting to not disappear during the work week and eat a wider variety! Last week my meals were very repetitious and not well prepared. Yours certainly looks good, and full of color! Love all of the sweet potatoes!

    1. It's a sad place to be. Weeks swallowing us, whole.

  6. My choice is kale bowl #3. And I so wanted to love the coconut aminos, but I didn't...I've had grainy dark chocolate before, too.

    1. I tried! It tasted just eh. Grainy chocolate is the worst, isn't it?

  7. That was a good idea to try the coconut aminos at the hot food bar in Whole Foods. I've wondered about it many times, but I haven't wanted to buy it without knowing if I'd like it. A bottle is on the pricey side. Pink Ladies are my favorite apples too. I've never heard of Jazz apples. I'll keep an eye out for them!

    1. I was surprised to see it! Good on WF. I'm glad I didn't pay for it; maybe it's more up yr alley.

    1. Gena, thank you! The WF bar can be dangerous.... who knows what equals more than a pound??

  9. I find that I either have way too much produce, or not nearly enough. Leftover from last week I'm looking at celery, fennel, and quad-colored peppers. What's a girl supposed to do with that?

    1. Roast em all! Throw em over quinoa! Dressing! Eat!

    2. I recently had a gorgeous raw celery fennel and clementine segment salad with sea salt, oil and vinegar at a terribly overpriced trendy restaurant but it was really refreshing and tasty!

  10. Another vote for picture number three!

Jazz apples sounds like terrible slang for something...

  11. Our salad mix has been rotting lately — we used to run out all the time, but lately I'm not into salads unless they are crunchy and tangy. Can't go wrong with beans and greens, though, and veggies that are roasted. Who cares if they look the same — yer not eating them all on the same day. Right now we have a giant bag of broccoli so it's broccoli twice a day — at least.

    1. maybe it's a wintertime thing about wanting to eat warm foods (which I'm not used to)? So sad to have to throw out greens! Broccoli is hardy though, so you should be safe.
