But I did (finally) finish the latest Marmalade Umlaut. Took a lot out of me, but I'm glad to be done and now I can move on to the next issue.
With my friend's vegan blackberry frangipane recipe! And a riot grrrl/veganism essay! Yay.
Also not food, exactly, as I was mostly interested in drinking beer and reading and writing poetry today:
It was rainy out. I went for a couple of walks under gray skies and read part of Wayne Koestenbaum's Blue Stranger with Mosaic Background and sipped a Magic Hat Elder Betty. T'was tasty and the reading was great.
Yay for the new issue of Marmalade Umlaut! Congrats on completing it, I know it's a huge task! It was certainly a yucky day today but it's good that you got to go for some walks in between the downpours :)
ReplyDeleteCool, I'll have to pick up a copy so I can find out more about flueeldrankies.
ReplyDeleteBeer and books sounds like a great way to pass the time!
Great name for a beer! Congrats on finishing the zine. Do you take a break between issues or just plow right into the next one?
ReplyDeleteLove the look & feel of MU; congrats!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on finishing the latest Marmalade Umlaut!!!
ReplyDeleteYea for the new issue!!! And Elder Betty Magic Hat? I've not seen this yet! Must find! I love the Goddess tree on the bottle.
ReplyDeleteWho is the centerfold this month?
ReplyDeleteIt's all right to take a break from the food, especially for reading!
ReplyDeleteVaVa, my mom always told me to run between the raindrops!
ReplyDeleteRose, that was from an Afrikaans cookbook I found and cut up, I was laughing the entire time! Slaaisouse!
Andrea, yeah, magic hat is pretty clever with their titles. I usually just start a new zine as soon as I finish one...this last one just took forever!
Abby, thank you! I'm gonna kick my feet up.
Jes, thank you too!
Bianca, I know, right?! I took a closeup of the bottle but I can't find the photo. Glad you noticed - it's very pretty.
Shen, you're probably kidding but it's actually my friend's blackberry pie recipe! With kitty drawings, if I remember correctly.
Blessed mama, yes, or else I'd just end up spilling my dinner all over the pages.
More people should have creative outlets.
ReplyDeleteSounds hot.
ReplyDeleteMMM. Blackberry frangipane, that sounds right up my alley!
ReplyDeleteI love that you read and write poetry. I sneak it onto my blog sometimes, but don't have the courage to publish my own! And who doesn't love a bit of riotgrrrl?
ReplyDeleteDrinking beer and writing poetry? That's definitely my idea of a party. :) Or tea and lyrics if I'm feeling tame. Or sometimes I'll just slip on a pair of headphones and listen to the lyrics of whatever album I'm into at the moment (which right now is Eureka by Mother Mother...so good). Oh and congrats on the new issue!
