Banana Sundae Smoothie

I wanted to make banana ice cream for dessert the other day but only had half a frozen banana in the freezer. I added about 3/4 cup of frozen strawberries into a blender with the banana, added half a pouch of chocolate Vega powder, about 1/2 cup of rice milk and topped it with some dried coconut. Et voila, a high-protein, absolutely delicious, vitamin-enriched dessert OR breakfast ;)

  1. Nice frozen dessert. I'm gearing up to make your interpretation of a Rising Sun Smoothie. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

  2. Yum, this smoothie sounds decadent and delicious but is so healthy! A perfect summer treat :) I actually planned on a similar smoothie for my breakfast tomorrow, can't wait to try it!

  3. I like it! I was planning on making banana "ice cream" in the coming months, will have to add this idea to the list.

  4. Perfect warm weather breakfast!

I bought the curry sauerkraut at Columbia's greenmarket, tasty but pricey. Please post if you replicate it. The caraway was also nice.

  6. I was craving a frozen dessert last night but was feeling so chilled after a cold, rainy day that I ignored myself and watched Mad Men instead. Your dessert looks good.

  7. Shen, awesome. I can't wait to hear what you think.

VaVa, definitely! It's great when healthy and tasty collide.

    Rose, oh it was :)

Ingrid, both are totally delicious. This was a little more liquidy.

Susan, I ought to try to replicate it! The caraway was good, yeah. I have a lot of those seeds so I really should.

Abby, doesn't matter what ya call it just don't call me late for dessert.

Andrea, it's been on and off chilly and way too hot here but I risked the frozen dessert :)

  8. Hey, random question: I'm going to be in NYC next week. Do I need a sweater or light jacket at night?

  9. Jenny, I usually carry a long-sleeved t-shirt with me because I'm always over-prepared but especially with the humidity lately, I've felt more comfortable not wearing it. It is definitely going to be warm next week! You probably won't need one.
