Went out last night to celebrate a friend's last day at work (that's a thing to celebrate, really) and got drunk and then went to TJs, which is never a good idea. But I think I actually pretty much got what I wanted to. Unfortunately (for my drunken state) everything on the list was for making cookies. However, I also managed to shove down two Luna bars, a CLIF bar, some baby carrots with tahini and Wheat Thins. Go me.
Greg came over with more beer and we baked sweet potato blondies from Vegan Cookies Invade Your Cookie Jar. I don't know if I've written about this book before, but it's great. I've already made a bunch of cookies from it for work and for various holidays and people really seem to love the recipes. I can't actually vouch for too many of them myself since...I try not to eat the baked goods I make. But like I said, people really seem to enjoy them.
Then this morning, I made peanut butter blondies from the same said book, for Scott at work because he requested them last night at the bar. As Ernest Hemingway put it, "Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk." I think about that quotation a lot, and I love it but rarely stand by it. Until it comes to food. (HA! I just googled the quotation to make sure I had the right person and wording, and I do, but the second part of the quotation is "That'll teach you to keep your mouth shut." I love it.)
The sweet potato blondies were a lot better than the peanut butter. I think I'm not really a fan of peanut butter baked goods: they seem sort of dry. Oh well, Scott wanted them, Scott got them, and he seemed to like them. Next on my list is Pretzel-Peanut-Apple drop cookies. Oh they look good. I wish I had a camera sometimes so I could photograph these for you. (You? Me.) They both turned out pretty much like the photos in the book if you have it. (You?)
Needless to say, with the drunj last night and my eats of late, I was farting up a storm all day and now I'm drinking some Yogi fasting/digestive tea. Ho boy.
Sweet potato blondie
beer and wine
Arnold's Deli Thin with peanut butter, apricot jam, and a banana
Sweet potato scooped up with vegetable Wheat Thins
Spinach salad with broccoli, carrots, tomato, sweet potato, Goddess dressing - boy was this good
Coffee with soy milk and honey
gum all day long - contains sorbitol, which makes you gassy!
small peanut butter blondie, plus a few extra peanuts that had fallen off
Yogi fasting tea
Not horrible, I guess. Well, yeah, it was kind of. And gas is nothing to the elation I felt while eating the salad and again swearing to do right and eat right by my body. Oh well.
Maybe I'll look for the TJ receipt and list that out for you tomorrow. Pax.
